Smart specialization, applied to a region, is based on defining priorities to create competitive advantages through the development and adaptation of strengths of research and innovation to business needs.
The RIS3 Andalusia 2020 identifies the areas of activity in which Andalusia has more competitive advantages compared to other regions.
Andalusia has developed:
An important agrifood production system connected to a local commercial model and leading assets such as the International Campus of Excellence CEIA3.
One of the most advanced intensive agricultures in the world with strong reserves of knowledge and efficient management, and the Andalusian sea as a varied source of new substances and foods.
An agrifood transformation industry with a fundamental focus on regional production and exports able to increase the added value of productions through R&D&I and ICT in its processes to obtain more attractive and healthy products which are easy to use and better adapted to new social realities.
A very demanding food safety and traceability system able to respond to crisis situations rapidly and reliably, with verified quality of its food products and an Andalusian gastronomy renowned in the tourist industry and in the world.
Achieve a predominant penetration of Andalusian food products on the market through progress in research, technology and innovation related to production, processing and marketing, and complementarily focusing on the quality of foods and consumer education.
Consolidate Andalusia’s national leadership in agroindustrial production by increasing the knowledge base on the different components of the production chain and demand characteristics, improving technology and introducing innovative systems into business models and production processes.
Position the food sector based on the use of marine resources, especially in aquaculture, by carrying out a modernising process of the current exploitation system and of the companies which rely on knowledge, technology and innovation.
Ejemplos de actuaciones realizadas en el marco de la prioridad Investigación e Innovación en Agroindustria y Alimentación Saludable:
The main objective of the project is to bring together leading European experts and support networks for the development of Digital Innovation Hubs (DiHs) to examine the opportunities of ICTs, IoT and Industry 4.0 to increase the efficiency of the great potential of biomass supply chains .
The initiative aims to maximize the mobilization and use of indigenous biomass in European regions. This project supports policy makers and other regional entities to make the most appropriate decisions for regional needs, considering the entire value chain (from biomass suppliers to end markets), to raise awareness about the real potential of the bioeconomy.
Bridging the gap between research and innovation by interconnecting professionals in agriculture and forestry with research and training, as well as with associations and groups, bioindustry, policy makers and business support services, organizations, agencies of innovation and TT intermediaries forming multi-actor networks of collaboration in innovation.
